The Christian Race - What Is It?

It was Sunday morning: Time to go to Church. The young woman, Labake, had prepared for Church service the whole week. The expensive designer clothes and shoes with an animal-skinned handbag to match: well-manicured painted nails and an attractive hairdo, and Labake was ready to go. Talking into her pink-colored android cellphone, her eyes sparkled with excitement as she joined the multitude going to Church that bright Sunday morning. What was Labake’s excitement at going to Church? It was Emeka, the music director. Not even Pastor Ahmed’s inspirational message on ‘How to become rich in one week’ could help Labake out of her dance to attract Emeka. It was an angry and disappointed Labake that walked back home after Church. Emeka did not notice her, again! And she blamed all those pretentious sisters flocking around the music director like flies! “Especially that meddling back-biting hypocrite, Sharon. I will show her 'pepper,'” Labake fumed.

“If Christ comes today, only 4 people in this great city are ready,” the Spirit of God said one day. In a city where a multitude attends church every Sunday, only 4 are true Christians! Like Labake, many in the Church today are Christians in name only but in conduct! The majority are going to Church for personal and other reasons, not to know Christ the Lord or to learn His holy ways. Distracted from God’s priority by the pursuit of wealth and advantage, many Church Clergy and the majority of Christians do not know the Christian race, or how to run it!
